A morning at one site

One site, one morning, in the order the console shows it. The screen names and status words below are the ones the product uses.

06:00

Shift change

The morning shift starts. The first screen is a count, not a list — how many people are expected, how many are on site, how many are not.

Someone who has not checked in yet is not late. For the first fifteen minutes they read Arriving (within grace).

The same worker, as the clock moves

One person who has not checked in. Nothing about them changes — only the time does — and the console says something different at each step. This is what it means for the product to have rules rather than a red flag.

  1. 05:50Before shift
  2. 06:00Arriving (within grace)
  3. 06:20Late — not checked in
  4. 06:40Operationally missing

A 06:00 shift on the default policy: check-in grace 15 minutes · Operationally missing 30 minutes · Checkout grace 60 minutes.

06:40

A post is empty

Forty minutes in, one of the two has still not checked in. Past the thirty-minute threshold the console stops calling it late and calls it what it is.

Operationally missing

Check-in grace 15m · Operationally missing 30m · Checkout grace 60m

The console is careful about what that word means: Operationally missing means the Worker has not checked in after the configured escalation threshold. It is not a disciplinary or legal conclusion.

The unfilled position from 06:00 is counted separately, under Unfilled positions. A post nobody was assigned to is a staffing gap, not a person who is late, and the two are never added together.

06:55

A reliever is approved

Someone turns up to cover. They check in provisionally, and the request waits for a person to approve it — nothing is counted as presence until it is.

Approve

Coverage then shows +reliever against the site: Some presence is from an approved reliever (temp, no deployment). The record says a reliever covered the post, not that the rostered worker was there.

A worker who cannot use their phone is checked in from Attendance assistance, with the reason recorded.

Month-end

The record

The morning is now four lines in a record nobody can rewrite. When the invoice arrives, the argument is about what the record says, not about whose memory is better.
